Old Château

The Old Château in Jevišovice was built up by Sezema of Kunštát in 1423 – 1426 and was kept by this family until 1587. In this year the family died out in male tail and the chateau fell upon the princes of Minsterberk. After the Minsterberks had died out in 1649, the Emperor sold the château to one of the most significant personalities of the Jevišovice history – Louis Raduit de Souches. New Château

New Château

The New Château is a mixture of a few architectural styles. It is framed by a spacious English park with a collection of 22 Baroque statues depicting antique heros. The new château was built by Raduit de Souches in the precinct of the then hunting park. It was the owner Karlov Locatelli thanks to whom the château has its today´s image. He had an original wooden hunting manor rebuilt into Neogothic, Windsor style.

Old Castle

The original residence of Jevišovice lords was most probably built up in 1277 by Boček of Jevišovice, the Moravian aristocrat from the family of Kunštát. The Old Castle was erected in the locality of a prehistoric settlement which showed to be a rich archaeological excavation later. Today we can find only a few stones here. However, from the place where the Old Castel used to stand there is one of the most gorgeous views of the Old Château on the opposite river bank.

The history of the Château in Plaveč reaches as long as the 13th century. In that time there was a Gothic fortress which was re-built into a Renaissance castle at the end of the 16th century by the family of Hodicky. Then in the mid-18th century a scion of this family, from the line of de Souches family, re-built the Renaissance castle into a Baroque palace. The present classicistic form was impressed to it by the baron Albert Widmann in 1825, whose ancestors acquired the château in 1743. Žalov Memorial

Žalov Memorial

In the proximity of the Jevišovice Dam a hill called Žalov is rising. Its dominant feature is a memorial in the shape of a chalice, reminding an unfortunate conclusion of Hussite´s forays. In September 1871 so called „mass meeting“ took place here, with 16 thousand people gathered, and for the first time in the Znojmo region the future anthem „Where is my home?“ was heard.
